A Foucaultian Methodology for Discursive Research in Social Sciences

The article outlines three methodological strategies based on Foucault’s concepts that can be used separately or together to operationalize social research from a conceptual matrix: subject-power-discourse. The first strategy is genealogy, aimed at finding how power constructs subjects starting from problematization. The second is the anatomopolitical strategy, aimed at analyzing infrastructures defined by discourses that seek to control bodies. The third and last strategy is biopolitics, which consists of an analysis of neoliberal governmentality and its devices for the regulation of life and death.References
